VALENCIA. On 20 September, València will host the World Paella Day CUP for the fourth consecutive year, an event that every year brings together chefs from all over the world to choose the best paella chef. A day in which the most international dish of Valencian gastronomy is honoured and recognised as part of the International Paella Day. Once again this year, Spain will host the event but will not take part in the competition. The public will play an important role in the competition, as their votes will be decisive in selecting the finalists who will be eligible for the trophy and recognition as the best paella chef.

The selection of chefs for the new edition of the World Paella CUP has already begun, and those who wish to participate have until 31 May to enter this form and submit a photo and a video of a maximum length of 59 seconds in which they tell their personal story, which country they would like to represent and why they would like to take part in this competition.

<p

The material must be sent by email to worldcup@worldpaelladay.org . The best candidates will reach the final round and their videos will be uploaded to the official WPD website www.worldpaelladay.org . From 10 to 23 June, the public can vote for their favourite chef. In addition, every foodie can support their favourite candidate using the hashtag #WorldPaellaDayCUP and the candidate's respective number.</p

A panel of expert judges will decide which finalists will have the opportunity to win the Best Paella Chef trophy and take part in the activities on offer at the World Paella Stage, based on public votes, media coverage, the candidates' careers and the videos.

World Paella Day Stage: a gastronomic experience only for the best

Once again this year, the finalists will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Valencia's gastronomic culture for a week and experience the World Paella Day Stage up close. Under the guidance of the best paella experts, they will get to know Valencia and its province, the cradle of paella. For five days, the finalists will be able to discover the rice fields of the Albufera Natural Park, the Central Market and the Huerta de Valencia.</p

On 20 September, they will then compete against each other in the 7th edition of the World Paella Day Cup to see who cooks the best paella and wins the corresponding trophy. All participants will receive a personalised jacket and a certificate confirming their status as finalists.
