GLÜCKSBURG: As part of a comprehensive modernisation of the Vitalhotel Alter Meierhof, the two-star restaurant Meierei Dirk Luther is moving within the hotel and will be completely redesigned. The hotel has announced that it will temporarily close its doors on 15 September 2024 for extensive renovation and expansion work. In addition to six new guest rooms, the entire ground floor and basement of the Vitalhotel Alter Meierhof will be remodelled. The plans include an expansion of the spa area with pool and sauna landscape as well as an enlarged catering area. The two-star restaurant Meierei Dirk Luther is moving into the former event rooms and will have its own spectacular terrace with a view of the Flensburg Fjord for star menus in the open air. A private dining area with direct access to the kitchen will be created for exclusive bookings in a private atmosphere or social dinner events. In the Brasserie restaurant with more seats, a French conservatory with a new beach terrace on the same level will adorn the scenery in future.

A new function room with a sea-view terrace will provide space for up to 50 people for festive occasions in small groups. The entrance area and reception have also been given a new look. The public areas will be extended. The lobby bar, for example, offers a sweeping view of the Flensburg Fjord as soon as you enter the hotel, while the Hof-Therme spa area has been remodelled with several spacious relaxation areas. The centrepiece of the pool landscape will be a free-standing fireplace in the spa area. The sauna landscape will be complemented by a Finnish panorama sauna with a direct view of the Danish coast. Instead of a cold pool after a sauna session, the snow shower with a winter landscape and permanent snowfall offers refreshing cooling. A new fitness area with access to the hotel garden completes the spa portfolio.

The hotel is focussing on advanced technological development and is taking energy-saving measures to convert the building and technical infrastructure in order to conserve resources. For example, the focus is on a new energy-efficient kitchen and regenerative processes for heat recovery from thermal energy. In addition, storage and operating rooms are being optimised and all social and recreation rooms are being extended.

The hotel set new wellness standards in northern Germany over 25 years ago. Back then, a crowd-puller with a spa area for exclusive holidays on the Flensburg Fjord was created. The hotel became a tourist beacon and ambassador for the region. "We are continuing on this path and will continue to inspire our guests in a spacious feel-good ambience from March 2025," say Managing Director Dirk Luther and Hotel Director Uta Krause-Junk.

Culinary branch in the region

Guests will not have to miss out on culinary experiences during the renovation phase. The hotel is planning a second gastronomic pillar in the region. Dirk Luther promises: "We want to continue to be there for our friends and guests in a prime location right on the waterfront and enrich the culinary landscape in the region even after the hotel reopens.

"The whole team is united behind the project and is looking forward to the renovation. With the investments, we are responding to the changing demands of our guests, utilising existing potential and enhancing our strengths in gastronomy and spa," says Uta Krause-Junk with conviction."
