Hamburg bunker launched

Hamburg

KARO&PAUL by Frank Rosin opens for business

HAMBURG It is the most spectacular construction project in Hamburg since the Elbphilharmonie concert hall: the extension of the bunker on Hamburg's Heiligengeistfeld. With a new hotel - the REVERB by Hard Rock® Hamburg -, diverse gastronomy, a roof garden and a mountain path, the Hamburg BUNKER opened its doors today, 5 July, and will become a creative, urban experience for Hamburg residents and tourists from all over the world. The entire hotel and catering area of the bunker structure is operated by the Hamburg-based RIMC Hotels & Resorts Group.

It is already regarded as a new landmark for a colourful, creative Hamburg - now, after several years of construction, the Hamburg BUNKER will be a real experience for Hamburg residents and guests from all over the world. Today, the Hamburg-based RIMC Hotels & Resorts Group has opened the REVERB by Hard Rock® Hamburg hotel and various gastronomic outlets in the expanded bunker: the KARO&PAUL by Frank Rosin bar, the main restaurant La Sala, the Constant Grind café, the Rock Shop and the Green Beanie catering container on the roof garden. The 560-metre-long and five-metre-wide mountain path and the city garden on the roof of the bunker - Hamburg's largest public roof garden - have also been open to the public for the first time since 5 July. Numerous interested visitors were already waiting to enter the Hamburg BUNKER when it opened at 09:00 in the morning.

"As a Hamburg-based family business, the Hamburg Bunker is a project close to our hearts. It cannot be compared to any other hotel and restaurant project and will inspire travellers and locals alike with its unmistakable offer," explains Marek N. Riegger, CEO of the RIMC Hotels & Resorts Group. "The hotel concept and the gastronomic offer, together with the unique location and the breathtaking view of the Hanseatic city, will make a visit to the bunker a holistic and unforgettable experience."

John Rees, Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations at Hard Rock International, said at the opening of the hotel: "Our guiding principle in developing the REVERB brand was to foster community and offer guests a variety of spaces where they can fully express themselves. Today's travellers are looking for opportunities to connect with other people and immerse themselves in a melting pot of different experiences. To meet these demands, we have created a unique hotel brand centred around our fans and their passion for music and culture. After the success of the first REVERB in Atlanta, we are thrilled that Hamburg will be home to our first European REVERB hotel.

The hotel as a cultural melting pot

The hotel offers a contemporary experience with a focus on local music, gastronomy and lifestyle. There is a regular calendar of events with concerts and performances by up-and-coming local artists. At REVERB by Hard Rock® Hamburg, guests can unleash their creativity while enjoying modern comforts. In addition to the communal areas, the hotel has 134 rooms spread over five floors, including 12 suites ranging in size from 30 to 50 m2 . There is a mix of King, Double Queen and Roadie Bunk rooms, all featuring stylish, comfortable furniture, fan-inspired artwork, work areas and bathrooms with premium toiletries. The roadie bunk room features two bunk beds and one queen bed, two ensuite bathrooms, a karaoke machine and oversized smart TVs.

Each room at REVERB by Hard Rock® Hamburg has been designed with the aim of reducing the impact on the environment, utilising smart technology and creating an original design that brings people together. Room rates start at 160 euros per night for the Classic Room (17-25 m2 ). Check-in is done via self-service terminals, mobile devices or by REVERB staff at reception. Each hotel room is equipped with an intelligent voice assistant. Guests can use it to access the REVERB City Guide, set the lighting mood, select playlists and entertainment programmes or order fresh towels. The REVERB City Guide was specially developed by Hard Rock® in collaboration with Hamburg insiders and local artists, provides tips on hot spots and gives an authentic impression of the local scene.

Affordable guest flats for artists

The REVERB Hotel has a special feature in addition to the classic hotel business: Three 40m2 furnished guest flats for artists or scholarship holders can be booked by Hamburg cultural institutions in future; they must register in advance with the Ministry of Culture and Media. "We are delighted to be able to offer creative minds an inspiring place where artists can experience their time in a very special atmosphere," says Till Westheuser, Hotel Director of REVERB Hamburg, "Supporting the cultural and media sectors is essential for us, especially as part of the neighbourhood."

360 degrees Hamburg: the roof garden on the Hamburg Bunker

City garden, vantage point, natural oasis: the roof garden on the Hamburg Bunker, which is open to the public, offers a spectacular 360-degree view of Hamburg from a height of 58 metres and is sure to become a new hotspot in the city. It can be reached either via 335 steps or via the 560 metre long "mountain path" lined with railings, which starts at ground level on the north side of the bunker and offers impressive panoramic views in all directions as you ascend. A total of 4,700 trees and 16,000 shrubs were planted on the bunker. In this way, around 10,000 m2 of green and communal areas were created under the supervision of scientists. This makes the Hamburg Bunker an international flagship project for climate adaptation in large cities.

The outlet concepts: new life for the bunker by day and night

In addition to the hotel operations, there are five other outlets on the bunker that are accessible to both hotel guests and all other visitors: a main restaurant, a bar with a restaurant and private dining area, a café, a pop-up restaurant on the roof and a rock shop. Marek N. Riegger: "The concepts are in tune with the times, combine Hamburg classics with current trends and the requirements of modern gastronomy and offer a selection for every taste, every time of day and every occasion. The theme of music runs like a common thread through all outlets."

  • Level 0: Constant Grind - the café above the rooftops of the city The Constant Grind with 94 seats combines a bakery, coffee shop and self-service in a cosy atmosphere. Coffee and tea specialities or refreshing drinks can be enjoyed here seven days a week, 12 hours a day, or taken to the roof terrace. Snacks and treats, as well as regional classics such as the Franzbrötchen, round off the offer. With natural materials, plants, wooden furniture and a palette of natural colours, the café offers the feel-good atmosphere of a traditional coffee house with the advantages of a modern grab-and-go café. Panoramic windows offer a unique view of Hamburg and the TV tower.
  • Level 0 - 02: KARO&PAUL by Frank Rosin - bar atmosphere on three levels The bar on the bunker extends over three levels: the "KARO&PAUL by Frank Rosin". The restaurant is open seven days a week and serves various specialities from early in the morning until late at night: Breakfast for hotel guests and external visitors, Sunday brunch, (business) lunch with buffet and a small selection of lunch dishes, as well as coffee & cake and tea time. In the evening, dinner is served family style, with a focus on vegetables as the main course with tapas from international fusion cuisine. Daily live music acts and DJ performances provide the perfect musical backdrop
  • On the roof: Green Beanie - the green hat of the bunker; The Stadtgarten offers a small, seasonally changing range of quick food and drinks from a pop-up container, the "Green Beanie".
  • The Rock Shop - souvenirs for all The Rock Shop® offers well-known Hard Rock® music-inspired clothing and merchandise as well as a high-quality, seasonal bunker collection. It also hosts events such as readings and small concerts, and the space can be hired for events and pop-ups

In addition to the outlets mentioned above, the bunker will also have a new three-field hall for 2,200 people, the Georg-Elser-Halle, which will be used for concerts and cultural events as well as school sports, and a memorial and information centre for the victims of the Nazi regime and the Second World War on level 0
