FRANKFURT AM MAIN. The city of Frankfurt am Main has honoured its ten Michelin-starred restaurants. " Our city is as diverse, exciting and international as our restaurant scene. The awards from the Michelin Guide show the importance of outstanding cuisine and cement our reputation as a centre of gastronomic finesse on a global scale. Especially for Frankfurt as an international location, these awards are important multipliers in global competition, for example in the acquisition of international trade fairs or the relocation of globally operating companies. As award-winning chefs, you are ambassadors for our city," said Stephanie Wüst, Head of Economic Affairs, praising the award-winning star chefs at a reception in the Römer.

With around 2,400 catering establishments, from cider pubs to bars and snack bars to gourmet restaurants, Frankfurt's gastronomy scene has developed into a significant economic factor. With 70,000 jobs, the sector is also an enormously important and attractive employer.

The Michelin Guide's worldwide Michelin cooking stars are reviewed at regular intervals by independent testers in order to guarantee connoisseurs a continuous culinary experience and quality at the highest level. The editorial team of the Michelin Guide is part of the French Michelin Group and is based for the DACH region directly in "The Squaire" at Frankfurt Airport. Valéry Mathis, chef and star winner from Erno's Bistro, adds: "Frankfurt's restaurant and gourmet scene is growing and reflects the internationality of our city. It is a great pleasure for all of us to spoil our guests with new and surprising creations every day." Erno's Bistro was first awarded a star in 1998 and has been one of the newly awarded star restaurants every year for 26 years.

For Eduard M. Singer, Head of City Marketing, the city's culinary culture is a flagship of the city. "The new Frankfurt cuisine combines passion, vision, sustainability and regionality and is rightly on a par with nouvelle and haute cuisine. Gastronomy is diversity, experience and always associated with freedom, a high quality of life and social interaction," says Singer.

"Top gastronomy is an important figurehead and advertising medium for Frankfurt am Main, which thus attracts a great deal of international attention. I am delighted that the city and the city council see us as a positive economic factor and recognise our achievements in this esteemed setting through City Councillor Stephanie Wüst in the Römer, which unfortunately has not been the case for years. We can continue to build on this solidarity," says a delighted Robert Mangold, President and Chairman of DEHOGA Hessen and Frankfurt and top restaurateur.

"Frankfurt has the highest density of gastronomy per capita in the country and a diversity that we like to emphasise and celebrate. Our star chefs play a major role in this, not only for the reputation of Frankfurt's gastronomy beyond the city limits, but also as role models for colleagues. They are an inspiration for creativity and perfection, but also as multipliers for important social issues, such as the focus on regional ingredients, the success of multicultural teamwork or the diversity of plant-based cuisine. Thank you for your commitment and your passion - every day anew!" emphasises Lena Iyigün, Chairwoman of the Frankfurt Gastronomy Initiative.
