New opening
Hotel Lauberhorn becomes Grindellodge
GRINDELWALD In just five months, Grindelwald will have a new gem - the cosy "Grindellodge". Twenty rooms and a Japanese restaurant will enrich "the gateway to the Jungfrau region".
Justine and Jan Pyott's successful accommodation portfolio continues to grow. By mid-December, the former Grindelwald Hotel Lauberhorn will shine in new splendour as the "Grindellodge" bed and breakfast. Until then, a comprehensive renovation is underway. The local hoteliers will take over the hotel in October 2024 from Conny and Beni Kaufmann, who have skilfully managed it for 19 years. The "Grindellodge" will offer 20 rooms in various sizes - from single rooms to family suites.
"We would like to thank Beni and Conny from the bottom of our hearts for their trust and inspiration, which will enable us to continue running the Lauberhorn under a new name," say the new hosts Justine and Jan Pyott.
First Japanese restaurant in Grindelwald
At the same time, the authentic Japanese restaurant UMAMI is opening on the ground floor of the "Grindellodge". The tenant is Japanese chef Shota Hasegawa, who grew up in Tokyo. With a "Japanese Ramen & Sushi" menu, UMAMI will be the much-anticipated first Japanese restaurant in the village. The delicious and healthy ramen noodle soups will take centre stage, while fresh sushi, baked tempura and donburi rice bowls will also form part of the extensive selection. For Justine and Jan Pyott, this is a reference to Grindelwald's long-standing friendly relationship with its guests from "Nippon".
In 2017, the Pyotts began their mission as hoteliers in Grindelwald. They remodelled the Hotel Glacier, originally founded in 1864, and expanded it with additional rooms, a spa and a wine cellar. As a boutique hotel & restaurant in chalet style, it has been delighting tourists from near and far ever since. Its "Grindelhomes" holiday flats cater to the increasing need for independent self-catering. The flats are in a prime location with a view of the Eiger. They offer plenty of space and privacy, but also a concierge service on request.
Sustainable hotel project in progress
The former Hotel Alfa is a work in progress. The "Grindelhuus" is being built here at the entrance to the village - right next to the terminal of the modern V-Cableway to the Eiger Glacier station or onwards to the Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe. The planned "Grindelhuus" will therefore also be a forward-looking project that not only features an impressive interior design, but also utilises sustainable energy sources with its own solar power system. Justine and Jan Pyott continue to drive innovation in Grindelwald and set standards in the local hotel industry.
