New restaurant in the Alps

MEGÈVE. Marc Veyrat has opened a new restaurant in the winter sports resort. He has had a chalet renovated there and now wants to offer his "High Definition Cuisine" four evenings a week for 18 guests each at a price of 395 euros. The menu is intended to "showcase the flavours of alpine meadows and undergrowth", according to local media reports. At the same time, his wife Christine Heckler, who has already worked at the Grand Bornand (Chalet des Troncs) and in Talloires (Chalet Christine), is running a restaurant that focuses on open-flame cooking and regional cuisine. The menu costs 180 euros. The establishment also has several guest rooms. It will be open all year round.

The 74-year-old Veyrat most recently had three stars in the Michelin Guide with La Maison des Bois, but lost one in 2019. He then filed an unsuccessful lawsuit against the Michelin Guide to find out the reasons for the downgrading.
