KIEDRICH. Michelin-starred chef Dirk Schröer is leaving the Schloss Groenesteyn wine tavern in Kiedrich at the end of the year. As the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports, he and his wife are taking over the Baiken in neighbouring Eltville. The reason for this is the expiring lease at the previous location. According to the report, the lease with the previous operators of Baiken is also coming to an end. The restaurant will then be remodelled and reopen in the Easter period of 2025. The report goes on to say that Schröer intends to continue to cook to a high standard in the Baiken's Gutsschenke restaurant and that there will also be offers for day trippers and hikers at weekends. The Michelin star is then not a must. The owners, the Hessian state wineries, want to offer more of their own wines at Baiken in future, including mature wines from the treasure trove.
