Farewell to the Giardino Hotels in winter

ASCONA: After more than 18 years of successful collaboration, the renowned 2-star and 18-point GaultMillau top chef Rolf Fliegauf and his partner Jenifer are bidding farewell to Restaurant Ecco. Rolf Fliegauf has significantly shaped the culinary profile of the Giardino Hotels over many years and has gained national and international recognition for his innovative cuisine.

Rolf Fliegauf began his career at the Hotel Giardino Ascona in 2007 and led the restaurant Ecco, created especially for him, to national and international recognition. His creativity, precision and passion for cooking earned him his first Michelin star in 2007 and his second Michelin star in 2010. Under his leadership, the restaurant has become a permanent fixture on the national and international gourmet scene and has regularly received 18 points in GaultMillau in recent years. His wife Jenifer Fliegauf, who always stood by his side and was responsible for the service, contributed significantly to the success of the Ecco concept. The service was also regularly awarded top marks.

Rolf Fliegauf commented on her departure: "After many successful years in Ascona and St. Moritz, it is time for Jenifer and I to break new ground and take on new challenges. We are grateful for the wonderful collaboration with my team and the support of the hotel over the years. This experience will forever hold a special place in our hearts."

CEOs Daniela and Philippe Frutiger would like to thank Jenifer and Rolf Fliegauf for their outstanding achievements and the formative culinary moments they have given the hotel and its guests. "We are sad to let Rolf and Jenifer go, but first and foremost we are grateful for the successful years. We respect their decision and wish them all the best for their professional and personal future." Daniela Frutiger adds: "First of all, we are looking forward to culinary highlights this winter in St. Moritz." Now the farewell tour for regular guests begins in Ascona. From 9 to 19 October 2024, Rolf and Jenifer Fliegauf will welcome their guests to a get-together with champagne from Perrier & Jouet at 6.30 pm, followed by Rolf Fliegauf's creations in the form of a 5-course menu. The menu including overnight stay is available from CHF 1215.

Rolf Fliegauf's successor has already been chosen, but those responsible are still keeping quiet and asking for patience until the veil is lifted.
